We strive to produce puppies that are the epitome of excellence, in both health and temperament.

It is our ultimate priority to ensure our Bespoke Spoodle puppies are healthy, happy and clear of any genetic problems.

Of course, just like all responsible owners, our pups and dogs follow a fiercely healthy diet, together with a strict worming, flea, tick and heart worm protection regime ~ we are fastidious in all that we do.

We do not breed first generation Spoodles [F1].

All of our Bespoke Spoodles are either F1B, F2, F2B or multi-generational. Why ? Because we want certainty pertaining to behaviour, coat textures and furnishings, and of course, temperament. There is always much less stability, including the shedding factor, when breeding to achieve an F1 Spoodle. We do all we can to ensure that we breed a dog that is also less likely to cause an allergic reaction … we specialise in HYPOALLERGENIC spoodles. After approximately 30 days, the pups have a terrific daily routine of outside play, where they can be ‘adventurous pups’ and learn what pup-life is all about, as they explore the sights, sounds, textures and smells of outdoor life. ENS and ESI continues, but in a very different way.

Spoodles are synonymous with intelligence, spunkiness, affection for both young and old, and they love learning new things. The saying … “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”, simply doesn’t apply here, however they do love attention and affection. Our darling spoodle neonates are born deaf, blind and without teeth. They are 100% dependant upon their Mumma and siblings for nourishment, warmth and love. We ensure the ambient air in our Bespoke Nursery, is kept around 26° to 28° as the pups are not able to regulate their own body temperature until approximately 3 weeks of age. This is a beautifully quiet time, as the pups sleep 90% of the day. Surprisingly, even though the pups can’t support their own weight yet, they are quite mobile, and can squirm and wiggle their way from one side of the pen to the other – they have expert smell, and can locate their Mumma with ease.

Day 3 to 16 ~ Our little new-borns receive their first Vet check. Each day we cuddle and hold them, and even though they can’t hear or see, we speak to them in a ‘breathy’ soft voice. This is how they quickly learn our smells. Whilst embarking on our daily BadAss Breeder Curriculum, the pups are all weighed and they receive a gentle look over. It is hoped that by day 10, each pup has doubled their birth weight. We attend to nail trimming every 5 days or so, or when required. Our ENS and ESI lessons occur every day during this time. As mentioned, the lessons assist with the pups’ adrenal and immune systems, promotes a healthier and stronger heart and aids in providing the pup with the fortitude and resilience to face all experiences that will come their way, along their journey of life, whilst blending into your family seamlessly. It is important to note that in an effort to ensure our pups sleep well, digest their mother’s milk with ease, and continue to be relaxed and thrive, their Bespoke Nursery is kept warm during the first 3 weeks; around 26° to 28°.

Day 14 to 16 ~ Our pups’ eyes usually open, and those lovely little personalities begin to shine through. As the pups’ eyes adjust, it’s important to keep the ambient lighting nice and low. Our pups are wormed every 2 weeks – we like to use Drontal All-Wormer suspension liquid initially, and then progress over to Milpro or Milbemax. Our daily BadAss Breeder Curriculum lessons continue, and we enlighten our pups to ‘puppy massage’, ensuring that every pup gets familiar with being touched all over; of course this will assist when it comes time to visit the groomers and your Vet. At the end of this period, we like to safely show the puppies around our home, taking in the different smells, sounds and sights.

Day 17 to 21 ~ At around 21 days, the pups begin to find their feet. This is an exciting and enriching time for our pups, as we introduce a new enrichment item into the whelping pen each day. This could be a wonderfully safe and colourful musical toy, or perhaps a pumpkin, box, clothes basket, watermelon, box or even a watering can. Doing this has shown massive benefits in assisting the pups’ brain neuroplasticity. We also like to add the ‘play-pen’ extension on to the whelping pen, and love watching our 3-week-olds exploring what’s new and all that new space – we introduce the pups to the artificial grass toileting system also. Around day 21, we often see Mumma enjoying a little more time away from her brood, and can start spending a little bit of time back up on the couch, cuddling with us in bed, or simply sitting in the warm sun in her favourite place outside. Again, our daily BadAss Breeder Curriculum continues with ‘puppy massage’.

Day 22 to 28 ~ WOW ! What a week this is ! Each day a new and wondrous enrichment item is added to the whelping pen, together with fun small play items. The ‘sound of music’, together with sounds such as fireworks, sirens, vacuum cleaner, drums, tv shows of all sorts, thunder storms and hairdryers, just to name a few, are played daily. We use an App called “Brave Puppy” to assist with this – you can even make an album with your favourite sounds ! It also “messy time” ! Yes, the pups get to taste soft mushy food for the first time ! And as usual, our daily BadAss Breeder Curriculum continues with ‘puppy massage’.

Day 29 to 35 ~ Look at them go ! Our pups have full reign over their play pen with incredibly stimulating and enriching toys. We start our outside play in our safe and secure courtyard, and introduce the pups to interactive tactile activities such as balance boards, tactile steps, tunnels, water play, and of course, the ball pit ! It’s a truly wonderful time watching on, as they use their cognitive abilities to problem-solve. It’s now when the pups learn to respond to simple commands, and are rewarded with pats, praise and perhaps a teeny bit of poached chicken. And you guessed it … as usual, our daily BadAss Breeder Curriculum continues with ‘puppy massage’.

Day 36 to 49 ~ They’re getting so BIG ! Now it’s all about stimulation, thinking and learning, oh, and toilet training. It’s during this time that the first of our two in-house Puppy Trainers pop over to meet all the pups, and our new owners also, at one of our famous Sunday Puppy Play-Dates in our wonderful backyard. The pups are slowly transitioning to less-wet kibble meals. We teach the pups about car rides, and how fun they can be, usually visiting our friends at Bunnings and even our Vets. Our evaluations begin, and those bright little personalities are on show for all to see. We have our fabulous Vet Dr Elly and her nurse from WAGS Vet visit us at home, where each pup receives a thorough veterinary health check, is vaccinated and microchipped. And let’s not forget … as usual, our daily BadAss Breeder Curriculum continues with ‘puppy massage’.

Day 50 to 56 ~ It’s almost “Gotcha Day” ! Our darling fluffy toddlers are working hard on crate and toilet training, and wearing their harnesses during their daily outside play time. They have transitioned to a harder kibble, tried many other different foods such as fruit and veggies, and are eating very well by this time. And of course, we complete the last of our daily ‘puppy massage’.

************************************

We hope this enables you to glean a little more about our brilliant BadAss Breeder puppy program, of which we are very proud.
